A new chapter
Rochdale Canine Country Club’s Next Chapter Begins Here
Rochdale Canine Country Club is entering an exciting new chapter through our partnership with What Dogs Want Academy! While some things may look a little different as we grow and evolve, our goal is simple: to create an even more enriching, fulfilling, and welfare-focused experience for every dog who walks through our doors.
As we move forward, we’ll be introducing new programs and protocols designed to help set your dogs up for success and give them opportunities to enjoy their days in ways that are meaningful to them.
Let dogs be dogs
Purposeful Enrichment for Every Dog
A big part of this evolution will be bringing more purposeful enrichment into your dog’s daily routine.
Dogs have natural behaviours that they need opportunities to express. That might mean sniffing, foraging, digging, shredding, searching, exploring, or figuring out how something works. We want to give dogs appropriate outlets for these behaviours while also helping them build confidence, problem-solving skills, creativity, focus, and independence.
And enrichment is so much more than a Kong or a lick mat!
We’ll be thoughtfully considering each individual dog… their personality, preferences, abilities, and interests when creating enrichment opportunities. There is no single enrichment activity that works for every dog, and we don’t believe in a “one-size-fits-all” approach.
Every dog is different
Tailored Group Play & Individual Enrichment
With smaller, carefully curated groups, we’ll consider each dog’s personality, play style, and sociability when deciding who spends time together. Dogs will have opportunities to participate in group activities, as well as individual enrichment sessions with members of our team.
We’re also excited to introduce private enrichment sessions for dogs who may find a group environment overwhelming, stressful, or simply not enjoyable.
These sessions will allow dogs to experience the same thoughtful, enriching approach in a quieter environment, without the added pressure of navigating group dynamics. They’ll have space to explore, learn, sniff, problem-solve, and engage with activities at their own pace.
It’s all about them
We Put Welfare First
Because we believe every dog deserves the opportunity to have a fulfilling day in an environment where they feel safe, comfortable, and happy.
At the heart of all of these changes is one question:
What will help each dog have the best possible experience?
Every decision we make at the facility will be viewed through a welfare-focused lens. We want to understand the individual dogs in our care, recognise what they need to feel comfortable and successful, and create an environment where they can genuinely thrive.
Our goal isn’t simply to keep dogs busy while they’re here. It’s to give them meaningful opportunities to be dogs.
